Deputy Christopher Castetter was shot and killed after responding to a suspicious vehicle call.

On November 27, Deputy Christopher Castetter responded to a call of a suspicous vehicle in regard to an ongoing domestic dispute in Cassville, Missouri. As Deputy Castetter pulled up to the scene the suspect opened his car door and shot him in the head. Deputy Castetter was taken to Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri where he died at 1:08 pm.

Cecil Clayton was sentenced to death in June 1999 for the murder of Deputy Castetter. He was executed March 2015.

Deputy Castetter had served with the agency for 2 years. Deputy Castetter joined the sheriff's department in 1995 as a reserve deputy while he was working with Cassville Police Department becoming a full-time deputy sheriff in April 1996.
