Constable Dolph Walker was shot and killed while making an arrest for bootleging.

On December 24, 1922, Constable Walker arrested a suspect, Carson Walker, for bootlegging "white lightning." His bond was posted and he was released. On December 25th, the bondsman requested to be released from his bond and Constable Walker took the suspect back into custody. Constablel Walker had the bootlegging suspect inside the Pascola City Hall and was at the door of the City Jail when the suspect's father, Claude Smith, opened fire. Constable Walker, wounded three times in the chest, fell to the floor. Constable Walker returned fire, fatalling wounding the suspect just below the heart. The prisoner grabbed the gun dropped by his father but Constable Walker fired again, wounding the prisoner in the hand. Constable Walker was rushed to Hayti for medical aid and then to Frisco Hospital in St. Louis on the midnight train. He died there the next night, December 26th.

Constable Walker ran for Pascola Township Constable on November 3, 1922. He was survived by his wife, Elizabeth. Interred: Caruthersville, MO.
