Constable Morren was shot and killed attempting to stop a bank robbery in Bronaugh. Seven armed men robbed the Farmers Bank using dynamite to blow the 3" steel wall safe at around 1:15 am. Constable Morren and proprietor of the Bronaugh House across from the bank was speaking to the night clerk of the Bronaugh House that he heard the noise and ran into the street. He exchanged several shots with the robbers in the darkness before being shot in the forehead with a .44 caliber round. The robbers made off with $1625.
