The Missouri Law Enforcement Memorial was an inspiration resulting from a visit by Missouri FOP executive board members to the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Memorial Service. Those FOP members returned to Missouri and shared their experience with various organizations serving law enforcement officers in the State of Missouri who joined in a partnership to honor those officers who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the citizens of this great state.
The Missouri Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation was established in 1985 as a non-profit fundraising organization to finance the construction of a memorial to Missouri's fallen law enforcement officers. The memorial was dedicated on June 17, 1994, just three years after the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial was dedicated in Washington, D.C.
