Police Officer Eddie Johnson was killed in a single vehicle crash while responding to a structure fire.

On October 20, 2014, Officer Johnson was responding to a residential structure fire in Royal Oak. His patrol car left the roadway on U.S. 160 six miles west of Alton, struck a driveway entrance and overturned several times.

Officer Johnson served as a police officer for the City of Alton, Fire Chief of the Alton Fire Department and as a reserve deputy with the Oregon County Sheriff’s Department. He was survived by his wife and three children. Interred: Cave Springs Cemetery, Sarcoxie, Jasper County, Missouri.
