



Deputy Sheriff Michael Hislope was shot and killed while attempting to apprehend the suspect who had killed Deputy Sheriff Gabriel Ramirez.
Around 4:00 p.m., a man shot and killed Deputy Ramirez during a traffic stop before fleeing. Responding officers found the suspect's truck abandoned near Reeds Spring on State Highway 160. Using the suspect's heat signature, the Missouri State Highway Patrol tracked the suspect in the woods. When they approached the suspect, he fired at officers, striking and killing Deputy Hislope and wounding two deputies, one with the Christian County Sheriff's Office and the other with the Webster County Sheriff's Office suffered life threatening injuries but are recovering.
The suspect was killed in return fire.
Deputy Hislope is survived by his wife, son, and daughter. Deputy Hislope was a US Army veteran. After joining the Army in 2011, he served as a sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division and the 173rd Airborne Brigade, and served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He later served with the National Guard from 2016-2019. He served with the Christian County Sheriff's Office for over six years from 2019 to 2026, and previously with the North County Police Cooperative.
