Reserve Deputy McGee was shot and killed while foiling a grocery store hold-up.
Deputy McGee was working as a security guard at the Safeway Store at 7318 Prospect Avenue when he noticed two armed men approaching the checkout counter at 7:42 pm. During the ensuing gun battle Deputy McGee was shot twice and was believed to have wounded one of the two gunmen.
Deputy McGree served in the US Army during WWII. He was survived by his wife, Elouise.
