Officer Phylicia Carson was killed in a vehicular while assisting another officer in a police pursuit.

On August 31, 2024 at approximately 1:18 a.m., Officer Carson responded to assist another officer who was involved in the pursuit of a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on US Route 54 near Passover Road. The suspect driver fled along U.S. 54 to State Highway Y to Midway Road and to State Highway A. Deputies from the Camden County Sheriff's Office located Officer Carson's patrol vehicle in flames after it left the roadway and struck a tree on Highway A near Toronto Springs Park Road. Officer Carson died at the scene. The suspect driver crashed his vehicle in the area and was taken into custody a short time later.

Officer Carson served on the Osage Beach Police Department for one year, being appointed in June 2023. Officer Carson is survived by her husband and six children.
