Constable Jentsch was shot and killed attempting to serve a warrant.

Constable Jentsch proceeded to a home about seven miles north of Rolla to serve an arrest warrant for a misdemeanor. He found the man near the house armed with a revolver that the suspect refused to give up. As they neared the house, the suspect attempted to go inside. Constable Jentsch ordered the man to halt, he refused and Constable Jentsch shot him in the left side. The suspect then shot Constable Jentsch in the head above his right ear, killing him instantly.
