Officer Wingo was killed in an accident after striking a car which had pulled out in front of him.

Officer Wingo was driving on Highway 162 at the I-55 exchange at Portageville when he swerved in a failed attempt to avoid striking another vehicle that was attempting to make a left turn into a gas station. The impact caused his vehicle to careen down an embankment and flip over several times.

Officer Wingo known as "Little Bo" served on the Portageville Police Department for one year. Interred: Dunklin County Memorial Gardens, Kennett, Missouri.
