Officer Wise was killed after falling from his police motorcycle on St. Louis Avenue approaching Union Boulevard and fractured his skull. It is believed that Officer Wise suffered a uremic convulsion, which lead to the accident as witnesses to the accident observed Officer Wise riding normally suddenly throw his hands up and fall backwards off of the motorcycle on February 15, 1925. He died 49 days later on April 4th.

Officer Wise had been with the agency for two years and was survived by his wife and child. Interred: Wolf Creek Cemetery, Eldorado, IL.
