ICE Deportation Officer William Hayes died from complications at Cox Medical Center as a result of contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty in Springfield, Missouri.
Officer Hayes had served with several federal law enforcement agencies in his 24-year career serving with the Border Patrol in Texas, the Bureau of Prisons, the Immigration and Naturalization Service and finally Homeland Security ICE in Springfield. He was a lifelong Springfield resident and a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University. He was survived by his two children, his parents, and the mother of his children. Interred: Crane Community Cemetery.
